It’s the afternoon of the 6th of July. Iusport arrives early for the interview with Jonathan Taylor in the offices of Bird & Bird in Fetter Lane. Partner in Bird & Bird's Sports Group and former Director of Studies of the very first course of Sports Law in England (the one in King’s College London), Jon Taylor has agreed to see us in the middle of a extremely busy week. Iusport accepts a cup of coffee and is led to Jon Taylor’s room. Jon Taylor receives us just as he would receive any other colleague: without wearing a tie, seated in his very same desk, and willing to talk and to comment on topical issues as they come from our mouth.

CBF anticipates mid-season registration period: some juridical remarks

Recently, with a short statement posted on its website, the Confederação Brasileira de Futbol (CBF) announced the anticipation of its mid-season registration period. Instead of taking place between the 3rd and the 31st of August 2010, as established by the Resolução da Presidencia 02/2005, the (inaccurately) so-called “transfer window” will start on the 20th of July 2010 and end on the 19th of August 2010.

We constantly witness how newspapers explore -on an almost daily basis- the possibility of CESC using the infamous article 17 of FIFA’s Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players. I will thus try to clear out what that article means and how it might be used by a player.
